Senior Technical Consultant - Core Infrastructure
Position Purpose
This position is responsible for supporting CORE windows infrastructure and Active directory services and ensuring to meet delivery criteria as specified by the Environment Manager for CORE Systems Management area.
The incumbent serves as first level of technical escalation and advisor to the customers, in terms of supporting and maintaining CORE windows infrastructure. Co-ordinates the resolution of second level incidents/problems, and owns the resolution of third level incidents/problems.
o Resolution of incidents relating to the Windows Infrastructure platform
o Planning and execution of platform maintenance
o Management of Windows Infrastructure operational requirements
Major Responsibilities
Financial
o To assist the Environment manager in managing the financials, as required from time to time.
o Efficiently support core infrastructure and provide resolution for high severity incidents and ensure high availability of infrastructure.
Proactively seek ways for more cost effective solutions through Operational Enhancement
· Contribute to continuous-improvement cycle for all operational matters relating to the Windows infrastructure, including;
· Process automation
1 ITIL disciplines focussed on a shared computing model
2 Technical & process solutions for complex operational scenarios
· Working closely with partner technology teams (Project Delivery, Virtualisation, Storage, Network and Security) to deliver best-of-breed customer service outcomes
Customer
o Understand the Bank's systems, environments and infrastructure integration points
o Be available as a senior escalation point for all Windows related operational matters globally across ANZ
o Be prepared to take the initiative; consistently deliver results and ensure key service stability objectives are met.
o Review and approve design documents
o Plan and execute platform maintenance (remediation of issues, security and system fixes and platform upgrades)
Process
Deliver quality Support through the following key ITIL areas to existing Technology SLA's
o Incident Management (diagnosis, service restoration, internal escalation, major incident management, stakeholder management, vendor escalation)
o Problem Management (root cause identification and remediation implementation)
o Change Management (detailed planning, testing and execution of changes)
o Capacity Management (shared enterprise-grade platform growth and optimisation)
o Performance Management (identifying bottlenecks and recommending tuning opportunities and implementing them)
o Availability Management (component, tooling, host and site failure support scenarios)
o Configuration Management (certification of new templates, CMDB integration, platform standardisation)
People
o Lead the team in the absence of the Environment Manager
o Provide technical leadership and be able to manage in high severity incidents
o Guide the team staff on the technical competencies
Risk/Compliance/Behaviours
o Ensure compliance with ANZ policies, processes and standards
o Anticipate technical risks and issues and manage them through to completion
o Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of different relevant technologies and support principles, both internal and external to ensure implementation of best practice for ANZ
o Attending to ongoing technical compliance requirements (eg. attending vulnerability management meetings to advise on Windows Infrastructure related security fixes, identification and treatment of platform risks, etc)
o Plan and execute platform maintenance (remediation of issues, security and system fixes and platform upgrades)
Qualifications
Essential Skills
o Experience in Wintel Infrastructure and AD support activities
Able to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional manner
o Able to use initiative. Be proactive by taking action and being persistent in addressing issues
o Able to build strong, open and collaborative working relationships
o Able to mentor the team on process and technical issues
o Knowledge and senior experience in maintaining large-scale best-practice platform configurations
o Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
o Ability to cover Environment Manager functions delegated during management absences (team leadership, line management, stakeholder management, reporting, etc)
o Experience as a senior support resource in a large scale enterprise environment (> 4,000 production servers)
o Current MCSE qualifications
